"Anoki" (2007) is written for Algonquin disc rattle and solo cello. The Algonquin disc rattle is played throughout the entire piece as a parallel background instrument with a separate tempo. The rattle is to be played as a constant flowing sound in a smooth rotating manner with no harsh articulation of the interior beads/stone. The constant rolling sound should be subtle. Both the rattle's motion and the lyrical, almost Bach-like phrases on the cello are reminiscent of the movement of a stream.
